A Slice of Life

Well Hello...
Another week has past and Im starting to get into the rhythm of Zambian life.

On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons I got to some of the surrounding villages to visit families with often 20-30 children in tow shouting Muzungu (Whitey) and playing various usually chase based games as we go. This has been the best part of my week, most days Ive thought “I cant believe I get to do this as a job...Im walking around an African village sitting and chatting to some amazingly resourceful and inspirational people....I love this!”

My diet has been pretty simple, bread, eggs, tomatoes, jam, coffee and peanut butter until today! ......
Today I found a new shop called “King Pie”.  I don’t think I have been so excited about a chicken and mushroom slice! It cost about £1.50 but I didn’t care, it tasted so, so good! I could hardly contain my joy and every mouthful was like heaven.

Living a life of gratitude is going to a whole new level.
Today I am very grateful.

EIGHT - at last!

as if the day couldnt get any better..
Eight went live today...
do have a listen and tell your friends,

(all proceeds go towards me helping others out here)

Numbers, Numbers.....

I can now fully say that I live in Zambia, after 25 hours of traveling i arrived in Kaniki last saturday afternoon

Its been an amazing week, there have been the usual highs and lows of moving somewhere new and Im doing well, making new friends and getting to grips with the job and life out here,

here are some things that I have found out this week:
10 - The kids live in 10 different villages in about a 10 mile radius
6 - We send our older kids to 6 different high schools in town
5 - We send our younger kids to 5 different basic primary schools,
(mainly tho, we send 200 to Kaniki Basic school)
3 - I have moved house 3 times in the last week, todays move should be my home for 3
weeks after that i will have a place for 3.5 months
2 - The number of dogs at my feet right now and most of the time, (cute ones too)

and there was 1.....
I met an 1 amazing lady this week, who we will call Charlotte for now, she came to the office on tuesday because she needed some food for her household. As she sat waiting in line, it was plain to see she was unwell, thin, slumped and with soars around her mouth. As we talked she told me she has 6 of her own children and 4 orphans living with her.  She has some kind of intestinal problems, (which sounds like Crone’s disease) and is in constant pain.
I felt really humbled as she was was just beautiful.  She spoke with such peace, she was even laughing at one point and had such a deep sense of gratitude in her life.
As I reflected on meeting her I cried, here is a woman who has nothing materially, hardly enough food, in constant pain and weakness but is living with not only an open home, but also an open and loving heart, despite the lack of resources.
I was challenged again to live being who I am, not out of what I own or what I have access to. I want to love well, with faith that there will always be enough to go around.
Im humbled,
ZJ

"Eight" album release

Thank you all for your patience over the last 2 days.
I received news today that iTunes do "random internal store reviews" on a very small percentage of albums they release. Unfortunately (or not?) "eight" has been selected for this review and it could be up to another 10 days before it 'goes live' on iTunes.
I hope its worth you waiting.
All profits from sales go towards me supporting myself in Zambia.
Will post news when it goes live.
